The first few months of 2021 have seen the ever-popular Start-up visa (SUV) program continue to gain popularity amongst business applicants from around the world. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) continues to show its commitment to Canada’s innovation community as it approves more designated accelerators across the country to support business applicants under the Start-up visa.
This month, we have seen processing times improve for temporary work permits under this category of application. Overall processing times currently remain at 31 months for the permanent residency applications, however, we expect IRCC to reduce these times in order to keep the program competitive. It’s important that SUV program applicants continue to work on their Canadian ventures. as IRCC has been requesting proof that the applicants are actively engaged and working on the business in Canada(even with COVID-19 travel restrictions in place) during the processing of the SUV application.
