Oshawa, ON – June 20, 2025 — The Spark Commercialization and Innovation Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Yuill as its new Executive Director, effective July 1, 2025. Martin brings more than two decades of experience in entrepreneurship, commercialization, innovation ecosystems, and economic development to the role, positioning Spark Centre for continued leadership in supporting high-potential local and international companies and driving economic growth focused on Durham Region, Northumberland County and the broader Eastern Ontario corridor.

Spark Centre is one of Ontario’s Regional Innovation Centres, with a mandate to support innovation-driven entrepreneurship and economic development in Durham Region and the surrounding areas of Eastern Ontario. The Centre provides advisory services, investment readiness support, commercialization programming, and strategic connections that help technology-based startups and scaleups grow into globally competitive companies.

Martin Yuill joins Spark Centre with a proven track record of advancing innovation and economic development initiatives across Canada. He is known for his strategic thinking, inclusive leadership, ability to forge high-impact partnerships, and deep expertise in building vibrant innovation ecosystems.
